Gymnastics
"Hard days are the best because that's when champions are made." -Gabby Douglas
Gymnastics is a sport where you need strength, flexibility, balance, and gracefulness. It is a sport where you use your whole body to flip through the air, sprint down the runway, and make clouds of chalk by the bars. At the competition level, you also need focus and determination. Below is a list of the 4 events that are in women's gymnastics.
- Vault
- Vault is the event where a gymnast runs down a runway and may do some tumbling skills before bouncing on the springboard and doing a skill off the form that looks almost like a padded table and then landing on a mat. Below is a picture of a women's gymnastics vault.

- Uneven Bars
- Bars is an event where a gymnast will do skills "flying" from bar to bar. The uneven bars are two 'parallel' bars, but one is lower than the other. A gymnast will typically use grips and put chalk on top of it so it prevents slipping off the bar and so she can get a better grip. Shown below is a image of uneven bars.

- Balance Beam
- Beam is an event that reqires a lot of balance. A gymnast will do flips, turns, and small dance moves to move across the 4 inch wide surface 4 feet off the ground, both gracefully and powerfully. Below is a picture of the balance beam.

- Floor
- Floor is an event where a gymnast will perform a routine to music. The routine will consist of many tumbling skills, leaps, and dance moves. The floor is a spring surface so you get a small bounce when tumbling and doing other skills. The image below is of a gymnast posing on the gymnastics floor.
