Turtles are reptiles and are among the oldest and most primitive groups of reptiles, having evolved milllions years ago.
Turtles live almost everywhere in the world and live in almost every type of climate.
Their shells are made of 60 bones that are covered by plates called scutes and help them protect themselves against predators.
Adult sea turtles have a couple of predators like the tiger sharks which are known for eating sea turtles,
and killer whales have been known to prey on leatherback turtles. Fishes, dogs, seabirds, racoons,
ghost crabs, and other predators prey on eggs and hatchlings.More than 90% of the hatchings are eaten by predators.
Turtles are not social creatures, though they don't mind having other turtles around them most turtles
don't interact or socialize with one another. Most turtles are active during
the day foraging their food and sleep at night.
